I have this cut out of Edmonton beside my stand up desk in my study. (Yes, it's not all of Edmonton, just the side that matters.) I keep it there not only because it looks awesome and not only because it reminds me of someone who is fond of me, but also because it reminds me where I am. I'm in dirty, cold, Edmonton, on the rough and tumble North side, and I'd best not forget it. 

So where are you? This is where I am, and for better or for worse this place is my calling. It's easy to get lost in dreaming of some other place, in some other time, with some other weather, or some different job, and lose track of things. It's easy to forget that at this moment we are where we are, and the first step to where we're going, wherever that is, starts here. Whether or not you like where you are now, embrace it as your starting place.
